Liver Little for Optimal Health!

Updated: Nov 7, 2021

LIVER is possibly the MOST nutrient-dense food on the planet!

It’s nutrient profile is exceptional making it a true superfood. I can hear you saying “Yuk!”already.

But hang on, there are some tasty and easy ways to incorporate liver once per

week into your diet plan, so read on.

The secret to delicious Liver is DO NOT OVERCOOK! It will be tough and dry.

Just sear the outsides first in a hot pan, throw in some bacon and mushrooms, toss till they are cooked and livers are pink inside.Add herbs,a dollop of sour cream and you're ready!!

Liver and other organ meats used to be very popular foods but have now

moved to the bottom shelf in favour of muscle meats, which is such a shame

as they are so nutritious, cheap and readily available at butchers and grocery

stores.Think Calf liver, Chicken livers, Lamb’s Fry and Duck liver...who doesn’t

love the French style Foie gras, but I don't love the way it's made. The bird is force-fed GRAIN to fatten the Liver....hmmm interesting, we have the same problem if we eat more grain/carbohydrate than our body needs we get fatty Liver too!!

If you don’t enjoy the flavour or texture of pan-fried liver then try adding it to meatballs and burgers or making Pate is super easy. If you soak the livers first in ACV the flavour is more mellow.

YOUR REAL-FOOD MULTIVITAMIN

Giving you body Liver means you’re getting the highest quality protein providing all the essential amino acids, plus other nutrients that can help with weight loss by reducing hunger and appetite. If your body is hungry for bio-available nutrient foods your HEC(hunger/energy/cravings)is never in check.I know that if I eat foods low in nutrients,I can eat a bucket load of calories trying to get what my body really needs!

Liver is low in fat and calories and rich in;

Vitamin B12..healthy brain and red blood cells

Vitamin A......immune function

Riboflavin.....turns food into energy

Folate...........for cell growth and DNA formation

Iron.............. to carry Oxygen around the body

Copper.........regulates energy production, iron metabolism and brain function

Choline...for brain development and Liver function.

So there you have it, instead of “Pork on your fork” this weekend try a little

“Liver in your Life” instead.

Thanks for reading and take care.
