Feed the Man meat...and the Woman and the Dog!

I’m a devoted fan of my Kelpie, Portia.

As a dog owner who’s also interested in human health and evolution, I’m aware of how the modern

diet and lifestyle of the last 50 years has failed us, and

wonder how it has affected our pets.

There are startling parallels between humans and our furry friends. More than 50% of dogs today are fat and sick. So are we. You see an overweight dog-checkout the owner and go figure!

Your dog truly loves you, they hang on your every word, they follow you to the loo. When you cook they wait patiently for any morsel that hits the floor. You watch TV, they curl up beside you. You move, they pop their head up and watch you even if they are an hour into a long nap.

You might stay reasonably fit going to the gym or pool for an hour 3-4 days per week, then spend the rest of the time sedentary. What about your dog?they can’t go to the gym. Unless you’re living on acreage and they are tearing around after sheep, they are reliant on you to provide that vital movement.

FEEDING OUR FRIENDS...

Domestic dogs are direct descendants of the Grey Wolf. All wolves and primitive wild dogs are carnivores. Scientists agree, dogs, like us, do not require any carbohydrate in their diet. Protein and fat from meat are sufficient to sustain normal blood glucose levels.

Like us they have adapted over time to tolerate berries, fruit and some parts of plants in

season, but just because they are tolerated doesn’t mean they are optimal! Modern dog kibble is grain-rich and full of toxic hydrogenated vegetable oil. Even the grain-free

kibble is using legume-based protein. Why is there so much carbohydrate in the feed? Look at the price per kilo of rice, corn and other bulk grains compared to animal flesh.

It’s price point.

I fed Portia Vet quality kibble from 0-7 years, then switched her to the grain-free variety for the next 4 yrs when I went Paleo...yes my whole family has to comply with my food choices or starve!

Now after 1 year of a mostly meat (nose to tail) diet she is leaner, fitter and faster than all her peers in the park with no sign of the arthritic limp that plagued her during the previous year.

IN SUMMARY.....

Try feeding yourself and your pet a much lower carbohydrate REAL FOOD diet and watch your health truly skyrocket...you might think it will cost more, but NO you’ll be saving money on GPs, Vets, pharmaceuticals, treats, dental stix-dogs only get tartar build up due to the sugar in kibble... Who’d have thought.

Thanks for reading and take care.
